British scientists gear up for ExoMars mission

I wish they would use some thing other than Solar Power. They will need more power in the future robots to get any meaningful work out of them . So why not start designing now?

You're a bit late, they already have. Besides which I fail to see how you could say that the results provided by the current crop of orbiters and rovers (all solar powered) is not meaningful. There is really only one other alternative to solar... nuclear. That leads to all kinds of controversy, there were protests and legal attempts to stop the launch of both Galileo and Cassini.
