Official EU request made to release UFO files

European Union official Mario Borghezio has put forward a request to EU governments for UFO disclosure.
So far 17 signatures have been recorded in support of the request, the declaration states "Many members of the scientific community have been looking into the issue of UFOs and have denounced the systematic covering-up of information on the subject. ... a study of the material collected by the governments of all the member states would have major scientific and technological spinoffs."
A European Union official's crusade to get all UFO information released may lift the veil surrounding the truth about possible alien visits to Earth.

only reason governments don't release such files is because either A. The Aliens are hostile and don't wanna cause a panic B. There is no known contact/info

A. The Aliens are hostile and don't wanna cause a panic A UFO doesn't mean it's an extra-terrestrial piloting a spacecraft though.

It will be sad if they start the UFO commission to give the appearance that they are just beginning to investigate this "mysterious phenomena" and continue to play dumb for another 70 years.

It's some progress though, finally... at least they aren't signing a petition claiming that there was nothing unusual seen in all those cases! And the other topic, I support Psyko's statement - "Unidentified Flying Object" doesn't necessarily mean it's of alien origin, well, not all of them

Its all military paranoia/suspicion/mind games. Militaries would black out reports regarding UFO's to keep some mystery, to try to fool the enemy, regardless of what the truth actually would be, the results would be the same. We'll take the USA and Russia as the obvious example, though many governments would do the same. If it is Russia behind the sightings, then the USA would black out the reports to hide from the Russians whether or not they actually know who it is. If it is the USA behind the sightings, then the USA would black out the reports to hide from the Russians that is it them, to k... [More]

Speaking as a historian, I'm in favor of complete disclosure on this subject, as many national governments have already begun to do, including Britain, Canada, Brazil, Russia, France and Denmark. I also think we need a similar commission here in the US, although we have already had partial disclosure through FOIA starting in the 1970s.
