Scientists have found the oldest evidence of a parasitic fungus that turns ants in to zombies.
It sounds like something out of the X-Files yet this fungus not only exists today but has been around for 48 million years. David Hughes of Harvard University has been leading the research effort - "the question now is, what are the triggers that push a parasite not just to kill its host, but to take over its brain and muscles and then kill it," he says.
The oldest evidence of a fungus that turns ants into zombies and makes them stagger to their death has been uncovered by scientists. The gruesome hallmark of the fungus's handiwork was found on the leaves of plants that grew in Messel, near Darmstadt in Germany, 48m years ago.

Heh, sounds like another frustrating B horror movie to watch, just like the original Pirahna movie. I kept yelling "You stupid idiots, stop following downstream to find ways to get back into the water and instead go warn the media outlets about those damn things so professionals can isolate the situation!" Similar reaction with Jaws too. LOL! Pfft, I guess next you're gonna try and tell us that wandering off into the woods alone is not the best course of action when there's a serial killer whacking all your friends.

Only if you finally lost sight of the killer, then scream like a little school girl for no particular reason than to let the chainsaw weilding maniac know exactly where you are.

OMG nice find Robbie. I never thought this was possible... Yes, I was just surfing around and saw this. Very creepy and lets face it, this is a real Zombie maker. Too strange. Now I ask this. Could this fungus grow, or some other type, grow into a human and do this? Spooky !!!

I don't really know about this fungus much but it really does make you think about Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 where the main virus in those two games was made from a parasite and fungus then injected into a human. Which then began to spread the virus while still being able to do everything like a normal person but didn't have control of them selves. Take a shot to the head and boom them dudes are done though. Interesting find.
