Over 97 percent of scientists are convinced that man-made global warming is very real indeed.
The debate over whether human activities are contributing to climate change has been raging for years but according to a new study for the National Academy of Sciences almost all of the 1,372 scientists polled on the matter believe that it is very likely that humans are indeed responsible at least in part for the changes to our environment.
Forget the four out of five dentists who recommend Trident…. Try the 97 out of 100 scientists that believe in man-made climate change. This data comes from a new survey out this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The study found that 97 percent of scientific experts agree that climate change is "very likely" caused mainly by human activity.

Man made pollution - yes. This causes climate change - no. Just look at the history of the planet - it has all happened, in cycles, over thousands if not millions of years. Only some polititions and their mates want us to believe it is man made so they can create new taxes, etc. One politition has even blamed the recent Queensland, Australia, floods on the states coal industry! Beleave it or not... Since CO2 causes climate change - strictly speaking he is correct. Br Cornelius

CO2 causes climate change, and yes climate is cyclic. It's predominantly orbital cycles that cause this change (along with associated greenhouse gas inputs, google the 'Clathrate Gun Hypothesis); however the current warming does not fit well with natural climatic fluctuations. As I said CO2 (and other GHGs) raise temperature, and the main change to the climate system has been human derived CO2. Suggesting it is us that is destabilising the climate. And that Australian politician is an idiot, it is impossible to attribute a single event to climate change. according to all the graphs i have seen... [More]

according to all the graphs i have seen posted by your side of the debate we are right where we are supposed to be with the temp. co2 is not that high according to those same graphs. Which graphs would these be? CO2 has risen by over a third since industrialisation, that's high which ever way you look at it.

i just had a thought. those who knew that the earth was round and not flat, told those who didnt know any better that the earth was flat in order to control them. i believe that the samething is going on here. but those in the know have to be more creative since more people have some sort of education. this is incorrect, according to my research. there is no evidence that those who knew the world is a sphere convinced the rest that it was flat in order to control them. where did you read that? there are those who did not believe that it's a sphere, and even in the light of obvious scientific p... I give up. It doesn't matter how many times the word GLOBAL is defined, some will insist global warming isn't real because they happen to be cold at the time. The hand picked scientists referred to above are mostly on the side of the skeptics, but don't let that effect your thought process. "Climate-gate" has been investigated by several independent groups and no conspiracy to hide or alter the truth was uncovered, but don't let that stop you from using the term as if it meant something. Humans are amazing. I wish I wasn't one... it's embarrassing at times. The US political system has the same... [More]

co2 lvls have been much higher in time periods without human. i dont know the link to the graphs. No one said they hadn't. Similarly global temperatures were higher without humans, where does that say that the current warming is not linked to us? We KNOW we have pumped large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere in the recent past, and we have an observed warming since industrialisation. To say 'its all natural' is to ignore the vast amounts of data we have that show otherwise. There is a clear correlation between manmade emissions (not just CO2) and climate, similarly our actions lead to changes... [More]

To say 'its all natural' is to ignore the vast amounts of data we have that show otherwise. Please send me this "vast amount" of data, to me by PM (please nothing from the Ipcc)

Please send me this "vast amount" of data, to me by PM (please nothing from the Ipcc) Expecting me to send a large data set is pretty antagonistic. How about trawling through the peer reviewed journals (most of which are available online, I'll give you a few journals to start with - Nature, Atmospheric Science Letters, Atmospheric Research)? If you can't access any journal you want to look at I'll see if I can access it and send you a copy. And why not the IPCC? The data itself is perfectly fine, and its not one study but a few hundred. If you looked at their datasets (again most will be avail... [More]
