Artist Ron Piccirillo believes he has uncovered one of the famous painting's many secrets.
Leonardo Da Vinci's most well known and celebrated masterpiece has been studied in great detail by artists for centuries. Piccirillo however believes that he has found something that others have missed, indicating the presence of animals including a lion, an ape, a buffalo and a crocodile in the image. Historians have been quick to criticise his findings, citing the cryptic nature of his conclusions and the fact that after all this time nobody has noticed anything like it before.
The Mona Lisa has puzzled viewers for over 500 years with her enigmatic smile. . . but has her coy grin only been a distraction for Da Vinci's real mystery? Is the Mona Lisa surrounded by animals? Rochester artist Ron Piccirillo thinks he has brought the 500-year old secret to light.
