Anyone suffering from arachnophobia may want to steer clear of Santo Antônio da Platina for a while.
In a scene reminiscent of something from a horror movie, enormous quantities of spiders have been filmed dangling en masse from overhead electrical cables and pylons in Brazil. In the video the sizable arachnids appear to be working together to build a large network of webs.While it isn't clear what species this is or why there are so many in one place, several known types of spiders have been documented to co-operate and to work in colonies.
Arachnophobes would be wise to steer clear of Santo Antônio da Platina in Brazil. According to a video uploaded to YouTube on Feb. 7, spiders appear have taken to dangling from the city's electric lines and other surfaces.
