Jupiter's Great Red Spot, a massive churning storm several times the size of the Earth is shrinking according to a new study. The spot appears to have reduced in size by 15% between 1996 and 2006 scientists have claimed.
Everything about Jupiter is super-sized, including its colorful, turbulent atmosphere. But there's fresh evidence that one of the planet's most recognizable features, the Great Red Spot, is shrinking."

If it's replaced by a rapidly growing Black Spot, then everybody's going to be praising Arthur C. Clarke as a prophet! He was just off by a couple of years. Jupiter will ignite in 2012, not 2010!

I think it did probably happen on Mars a long long time ago, so they may have decided to assess some of the other nearby planets for suitability for habitation, hence the appearance of objects suspiciously similar to spacecraft in ancient art on this, and probably other, planets, and legends of such things as Noah's Ark and Atlantis. This is not a theory that i can offer any scientific backing to, since i don't have Photoshop, but nevertheless it's one that I like.
