A website in Australia is offering users the chance to send text messages to a distant extrasolar planet over 20 light years away in the hope that one day they will be picked up by an intelligent extraterrestrial race.
An Australian website is enabling internet users to send a text message to the Gliese 581d exoplanet, in the hope of making contact with aliens or extraterrestrials.

think how aliens would react if they came in contact with us, exactly the same. they would be excited if they found a planet they could take over and have all the natural resources they need if thier planet only had about 200 years left before it is stripped of everything, thier sun is dieing, they know of a massive meteor coming towards them, etc

Planet Earth has one of the richest resources in the entire galaxy, humanity. The human population is estimated to reach 7 billion in the years to come, with it reaching approximately 9 billion by 2050. Earth has billions of people who can be harvested as a natural resource, and used for slave labor. Or perhaps our bodies will be used and broken down, and burned for the creation of an energy source, or used to house an alien parasite type species in search of new hosts to sustain it's population. lol. Finding intelligent extraterrestrial life will hopefully push humanity at a faster pace into ... [More]

The thing is are we not already broadcasting ourselves with TV, radio and cell network waves flying through space? Or do they simply dissapate quiet quickly?

Not that I believe that Alien lifeforms will actually recieve those messages or be able to understand them... But just in case.... I hope someone is actually reviewing all the messages people are sending before they send them. I'm sure a lot of people or should I maybe say idiots, would have sent messages threatening aliens and saying stupid things just to try and be funny, and the Aliens, if they are there, might not find it so funny and get peeved off with us here on earth. So I hope they will sensor all messages first!

I'll just throw it out there that I beleive there are already more advanced beings visiting the Earth already. However, I find it hard to believe that beings who are capable of having such technology to cross the solar system are violent. Look how close we have come to annihilating all life on Earth with nuclear technology, and we are capable of going to a moon. Now imagine the technology available for destruction to these beings who can journey across the universe. I think it may be their society, or through evolution, any other galatic civilization would have had to abandon the notion of vio... [More]

I for one am not in favor of advertising our existence to anyone that may be out there. People tend to assume that ET's are going to be friendly little guys. IMO, better safe than sorry. Just look at how violent and sadistic humans are and then imagine that but with more advanced technology. This guy seriously p***es me off!

If we find a super advanced alien species, we shouldn't hope too much. Have you ever found an ant's nest and decided to help them? Have you ever found an ant's nest and decided that they must die at all cost? In most cases, you look at it, and you walk away. Because it doesn't matter. Chances are, if they are advanced enough, they just won't care about us. u__u And the people who say that the aliens are here because we have nuclear weapons and are therefore a threat, think again. If they can create wormholes, it certainly doesn't matter what guns we have. -__- The power to create a wormhole is... [More]

The thing is are we not already broadcasting ourselves with TV, radio and cell network waves flying through space? Or do they simply dissapate quiet quickly? The thing is, that not so many people have gotten yet, is that our signals fade out completely after about one lightyear. I don't know if the same thing will happen to these messages.

Just look at how violent and sadistic humans are and then imagine that but with more advanced technology. Assuming there is a species with more advance technology. Who knows, we may be the one that are the most advanced. Maybe all these extra-terrestrial sightings are us from the future? Maybe we discovered time-travel? We've been already advertising our presence since communication technology was born. Never ... [More]
