Pope Benedict XVI has made a statement during a vespers service requesting respect for embryos.
The Pope emphasised the need to respect human life from the moment of conception. "It's not an accumulation of biological material, but a new living being, dynamic and marvelously ordered, a new individual of the human species," he said.
Pope Benedict XVI called Saturday for politicians, the media and world leaders to show more respect for human life at its earliest stages, saying embryos aren't just biological material but dynamic, autonomous individuals.

Science itself has shown how autonomous the embryo is, how it interacts with the mother and develops in a coordinated and complex way, Benedict said. Cancer would be more "autonomous" than an embryo. (I'm putting the Pope back on ignore)

Of course abortion is killing. It is cutting short a process that would lead to a full human life. Lets not lie about this; a life is cut short. So you have to lie in order to be pro abortion? Making something legal and a right does not make it a just moral act. I any case, or socities are too inhumane to be able to protect the unborn, too many other problems have to be addressed before that can happen. Peace mark It is not. In the natural animal kingdom, abortion happens all the time, when the life of the mother is in danger. Abortion is NOT killing. But mark, do you protest the hundreds of t... [More]

Well, this just gets weirder and weirder... From the moment the sperm and the egg are joined and begain to mulitply, that his human. What mother would want to hurt their baby? Thousands of them! They do it every day! Would that child have been shown more mercy by having it aborted or by letting it be born so it can be abused to death? And since when is having an abortion NOT KILLING? From the very moment of conception there is life. When you end that life that is killing is it not? Finger nails have nothing to do with fertleized human eggs. If one feels that abortion is wrong don't have one. L... [More]

(I'm putting the Pope back on ignore) You can put the pope on ignore? Well let's ask the pope, who has all this concern for the embryos, what do they do with the unbaptized babies who die in childbirth or before they've been baptized................ In the world today, a large number of people including infants, have never received the waters of baptism. In thenew Catechism # 1261 , it states: " hope that there is a way of salvation for children who die without baptism". This is a total rejection of the doctrine on original sin. The Pelagian heresy was and is condemned by the Church. This here... [More]

Love that logic. Well, since you quoted it, I read it...there's gonna be a lot of autonomous embryos in hell.

This may sound weird but here goes. First of all Iam NOT a christian but have some knowlage of the bible as I was once a very devoted servant of god.(lol) 5000 years ago people did not have oral contraceptives so they used natural methods of birth control. One of the most common methods was "Breast feeding your baby" as all women did in those days. During breast feeding the woman does not ovulate. If you do not ovulate you do not drop an egg and you do not get pregnant. So if God created women and created their bodies to practice natural birth control, then how is moderm birth control a crime ... [More]

This Pope urging respect for embryos is a no brainer, unless the embryo is already aborted. If the Pope is urging respect for aborted embryos, then he is just taking a stab at science. But of course if we respect living embryos, we wont end up with many dead ones As stated earlier I am a pragmatist. If embryos are aborted legally, they might as well be used for scientific purposes, and medical one,s rather than flushed away. However, the fact that embryos can do great good for science, research, and medicine cannot be used as a logical ethicla or moral argument that we should abort embryos. It... [More]

I assume no one, living or divine, can question "HIS" authority, if one happens to be Catholic, or some ultra conservatatives, of the non-Catholic persuasion. It is such a problem these days with which "faith" dictating doctrine to everyone else and not keeping up with where their's ends and somebody elses begin. I'll leave you with a quote, supposedly true though I doubt it, when a knight was ask how to know the difference between the Christians and the Infidels, or "who to kill and not to kill"? The knight glibly replied, "Kill them all." "God will sort them out". I love the Knights answer!!... [More]
