A courtroom in New Delhi is just one of many allegedly haunted locations being investigated in India.
The Karkardooma District Court had seen so many reports of strange occurrences over the last 12 months that the executive committee of the local bar association decided to have CCTV cameras installed in an effort to find out what was going on.
Some of the incidents reported included cases of strange noises being heard, items disappearing in to thin air and electrical equipment being turned on and off without explanation.
The case is just one of several similar incidents to have prompted investigations across the country.
Last year a police station was closed down in the state of Madhya Pradesh following reports that a police constable was being 'terrorized' by a ghost. In another incident a primary school was closed temporarily after a young boy claimed to have seen an 'egg-shaped ghost' in a classroom.
Belief in the supernatural is still widespread in India, a country where stories of ghosts, spirits, demons, witches and werewolves are remarkably commonplace.
"We've got a country with a 16th-century mindset superimposed on the 21st century," said groused Narendra Nayak, president of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations.
