Controversy surrounds the claim that a prominent researcher has found an 'alien' mummy in Mexico.
A story that has been doing the rounds this month concerns an unusual archaeological discovery that was reportedly made in a hillside tunnel in the municipality of Taxco, Mexico.
The mummy, along with a number of artefacts including jewelry, carvings, weapons and tools, were presented at a press conference earlier in the month by prominent Mexican researcher Pablo Enrique Garcia Sanchez who was photographed holding the find in his hands.
But here's where it gets weird - according to multiple local media sources, the mummy is believed to be some sort of alien creature with a deformed head and abnormal proportions.
The problem is, this claim cannot be confirmed and it remains unclear if Sanchez himself has ever actually put forward such a claim or if it is the local media that is responsible for it.
A large skull also featured in the images is believed to be a 'modified' domestic pig.
As things stand, it's difficult to find anything concrete to explain the photographs.
