A YouTuber who let his pet fish play video games got more than be bargained for during a recent livestream.
It's a story so bizarre that it could only have come from the strange world of YouTuber 'Mutekimaru Channel' - a Japanese streamer who is known for enabling his fish pet fish to play video games using motion tracking software which interprets the animal's position in its tank as various controller inputs.
During a recent livestream, he had left the fish to play the Nintendo Switch game
Pokemon Violet and while things had gotten off to a good start, a few hours into the run the game crashed, giving the fish access to the console's dashboard.
The oblivious fish ended up going into the eShop and added around 500 yen to the owner's account, exposing his credit card details to everyone watching the stream in the process.
It also managed to use the funds to purchase a profile picture for the game
Nintendo Switch Sports.
By the time the owner found out, it was too late and he ended up having to cancel his credit card.
He was, however, able to get a refund from Nintendo after explaining the situation.
The fish's lawyer was unavailable for comment.
