A 43-year-old self-proclaimed vampire who goes by the name 'Ludavik' maintains that he is the real deal.
Fictional vampires have remained a staple of books, movies and TV shows for years, but there are a few individuals who claim to be actual, real-life vampires who genuinely drink blood and who are unable to go out in the sun.
One such person is 43-year-old Joseph Burris of Colorado - also known as 'Ludavik' - a man who claims to have first identified as a vampire 23 years ago after tasting his own blood.
Since then, he has adopted numerous vampire-like traits ranging from his gothic dress sense to his penchant for feasting on the blood of other people.
He even has a condition that makes him burn very easily in sunlight.
"I was always thinking outside the box of normal life to help me identify with more of what sat in my soul," he said. "If you're the real thing then it'll come naturally, if not then nothing will ever happen."
"I've only fed on the blood of a few trusted people and I prefer it to be the blood from lovers. It's important to always have the lover or donor tested for HIV and AIDS before any action is done."
"Being who you are should always come naturally from within. It should be so strong others can feel who you are without any exotic clothes or actions of any kind."
