The object was captured on camera during a livestream of aircraft activity over Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The peculiar sighting took place earlier this month on December 10th after US President Joe Biden had arrived in Los Angeles aboard Air Force One.
Brothers Peter and Joshua of YouTube channel 'LA Flights' had been live-streaming activity above LAX (including two F-35s being refueled by a KC-10 tanker) when the camera picked up something unexpected.
"You saw that? We got something flying in the way," Joshua could be heard saying.
"I'm not too sure what it was."
The mystery object showed up, in fact, at least three times, prompting speculation from the pair and from Internet users who had been watching the livestream at the time.
The repeated appearances of the object, coupled with its proximity to Air Force One, even managed to draw the interest of major news outlets such as USA Today.
"I'm kind of scared of looking at this," said Joshua. "I'm not sure what that is, could it be a balloon?"
"I'm thinking balloon."

I agree with you, if anything approached Air Force 1, the planes security detail of F-18 fighters would have shot it down. But, beyond that the photo is so fuzzy there is no way to tell if the plane in question is even Air Force 1.

There are numerous ground spotters and sensors for all areas the plane takes off from and arrives at. If there was something buzzing AF1, it would have been identified and neutralized immediately. This is hogwash.
The large aircraft that was shown in the video is an KC-10, which is a refueling aircraft. If Air Force One was already on the ground, a temporary flight restriction (TFR) would have been established around the aircraft and any pilot that violates a TFR, would be intercepted immediately and forced to land and expected to face serious penalties for the violation, which is why it is very important for pilots to check the NOTAMS.
I have watched the two brothers stream for a lot of hours over the last year as they are really good if you are interested in watching planes. While I agree it is possible it is a balloon, I would also say that if you were ever to want to film a UFO then they would be the guys you would want as their camera skills are incredible, and the equipment they use is good with the zoom and definition and the fact they caught an air-to-air refueling at that height is impressive alone. They once, months ago, decided to stream at the same time using an iPhone zoomed right in and you couldn't even see a d... [More]
1. It's barely one or two pixels, so any guesses at the shape are meaningless. 2. It would be an easy thing to fake but I think it's real. 3. It passes in front of the plane, so is closer, possibly much closer - could be a balloon, could be a bird, who knows. 4. It is not AF-1, as noted above. 5. NO. You need to get out more and talk to pretty much any serious photographer with a decent camera. If I was filming this, I would use my dslr with a 300-400 mm lens, ON A TRIPOD so it wouldn't be so wobbly plus it also has excellent IS (Image Stabilisation) which results in a very stable image.
