The former Fox News host also claimed that there are UFO bases both underground and under the ocean.
Speaking during a recent episode of
The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Carlson, who is certainly no stranger to controversial views, outlined what he thought about the UFO phenomenon.
Rather than implying that UFOs are piloted by extraterrestrial visitors from another planet, Carlson put forward the idea that these objects are instead controlled by some sort of 'spiritual entities' that may have been present on Earth for as long as humankind.
"There's a ton of evidence that they're under the ocean and under the ground," he said.
"They've been here for a long time and it's pretty clear to me that they're spiritual entities."
He further clarified this point by explaining that by "spiritual" he meant that these beings are "above the observable nature" and "don't behave according to the laws of science."
This idea of UFOs being spiritual, rather than extraterrestrial, echoes the views of other high-profile individuals including Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison and GOP legislator Tim Burchett.
Burchett in particular made clear references to the Bible and UFOs last year.
"The first chapter of Ezekiel is pretty clear of a UFO sighting," he said at the time.
"Whenever I use the term angels, to me, it's synonymous with an extradimensional being."
